Business continues to increase as local residents learn of our location and superior reusable and disposable incontinence products.Gayle and I are in the process of purchasing a home close to our store. We are being very respectful to the current owners which will allow them to stay in the home a little longer than expected. This will keep us living in our motor home for an extended period but will be worth it in the long run. We looked at several homes in the area and knew our first choice was the right choice. This could be our only home while living in Las Vegas or it might be temporary until we are able to quality for a home loan and the more desirable city of Henderson.A new order of PUL pants from Babykins arrived this week. Now in stock are solid white pull-on pants in sizes small and medium. In addition, large size pants are available in the dinosaur and frogs &amp; turtles print. The last style is the low rider dinosaur print in size large.These are most likely the last PUL pants to be ordered from Babykins. As I have stated in past newsletters, the only source for the PUL fabric is from a distributor in South Carolina. The cost to send bolts of fabric from South Carolina to British Columbia, Canada will result in a higher cost for the pants. I suspect this will result in lower sales so the decision was made to discontinue the Babykins PUL pants and bibs unless a new source for PUL fabric can be found on the West Coast.Please do not wait too long to order your favorite Babykins PUL pant or matching bib as once these products are gone there will be no more using the Babyville pastel color and print fabrics.I recently attended the ABC Expo which takes place every year in Las Vegas. The expo is to showcase what's new in the world of juvenile products. Attending the show were manufacturers of clothing, bedding, furniture, strollers, safety equipment and anything to do with juvenile products. This was my opportunity to meet with manufacturers of cloth diapering products.I was able to meet with three cloth diapering manufacturers and came away with positive thoughts about new products for CTDC. I have worked with one of the manufacturers before and hopeful adult waterproof pants and bibs offered in the past will make a return to our line of reusable diapering products. The two others sources are new to me and I am hopeful to offer their adult products in the near future. More to come on this topic as I work with these three manufacturers on new reusable cloth diapering products.Our line of adult disposable diapers continues to increase. We now offer the Little Pawz, Space, Simple, Lavender and Super Dry Kids from AB Universe; Bellissimo, Classico and Bianco from Bambino; Total Dry X-Plus from Secure Personal Care and the classic print diapers from BareBum. Arriving shortly are Safari and Princess diapers from RearZ.Please note these diapers are only available for purchase at our store. An agreement with the suppliers state the diapers cannot be sold under their advertised price. These manufacturers offer free shipping where I cannot based upon my wholesale price and weight of the diapers. I would need to charge shipping which would drive the cost of the diapers way up. It is best to continue to use ABU, Bambino, BareBum and RearZ for your purchases, unless, you live in or are visiting Las Vegas.One last note on the disposable diapers we offer. Again, with my wholesale price, I cannot match the case price these companies offer. I would basically be giving the diapers away and unfortunately I am in business to be successful while still offering quality products at affordable prices. I hope you understand.Sales at our retail store continue to improve as people learn about the availability of exciting new and quality made incontinent products in the Las Vegas area. A big increase in sales are from individuals visiting Las Vegas either on vacation or here for conventions/business meeting. However, on a different note is the slowdown in on-line sales. This is either from the recent election and our country’s uncertain future or the discontinuation of our ten percent discount on four or more products.We are using Shopify with has both pro and con issues. Some issues were easily corrected by contacting professionals familiar with this program while other issues continue to be a distraction to our business. One major issue I am trying to overcome after two month is how to offer a ten percent discount on six (6) or more cloth diapers or InControl vinyl pants. Our last eCommerce Templates program made it easy to offer discount on multiple purchases of similar products. Shopify is just the opposite and excuse my language – “ a pain in the ass.” There is only one way at this time give discounts on six or more similar products.All discounts need to be manually calculated after an order is placed and a refund made to the individual's credit card. This is not the way I would like to continue the discount on multiple purchases but the only way it can be accomplished at this time. Believe me, had I known the problems associated with Shopify, I would have informed my web designer to stay with the program we had used since opening in 2007. In addition, the increase from four to six products is required due to our overhead cost to operate a retail location. This too was a hard decision to make but absolutely necessary. Our secure website can be found on-line. I am extremely happy to see our website on page one of Google. We have two ads currently on Craigslist. We also have a page on Fetlife. We are also using Mail Chimp for our newsletters.At one time we had over 500 people subscribed to our newsletter listing. Since converting to Mail Chimp, this number has dropped significantly.
